LILA WELLS STEVENS

Lila Wells Stevens, 79, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024, surrounded by her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Stevens, and daughter, Shari Stevens. Surviving family members are Keith (son) and Carolyn Stevens, Janet (daughter) and Kurt Wheeler, and Kelly (daughter) and Larry Berryhill. Her grandchildren are Kody (grandson) and Kayla Ingram, Ryan (grandson) and Lexa Stevens, Maddie (granddaughter) and Zach Benton, Alex Stevens, Eli Wheeler, and Luke Berryhill. Her great grandchildren are Carter and Lucy Stevens, and Annslee Benton.

Lila was a long-time resident of the Macedonia community. A supportive wife, mother, and friend, she spent most of her life in service as well as perseverance. A member of the Service League, Lila helped create the inaugural Riverfest. She worked alongside her husband, Don, and family to start Cherokee Thanksgiving. Lila loved dance and the performing arts and spent many years devoted to Cherokee High School and Sequoyah High School as a choreographer. She persevered through and overcame stage 4 pancreatic cancer, going on to encourage many others with her testimony of God’s faithfulness amid hurt, pain, loss, and victory.

Visitation was on Tuesday, October 22, from 4:00—8:00 at Darby Funeral Home. The service was held at 2:00 in the Darby Funeral Home chapel on Wednesday, October 23, with The Rev. C. R. Hill officiating. Internment followed at Macedonia Memorial Park.
