Johnny Burkhalter

Johnny Roy Burkhalter, 66, of Bryan, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2011, at College Station Medical Center. Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 28, at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station, with interment at Wellborn Cemetery.

Johnny was born December 29, 1944, in Bryan to Norton and Marjorie Burkhalter. A 1963 graduate of Stephen F. Austin High School, he also attended Texas A&M University, where he majored in mechanical engineering.

He was a lifetime plumbing/mechanical contractor and also served his community as a county constable. Johnny had the honor of being elected the first constable in south Brazos County Precinct No. 2. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed dearly by numerous family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers Norton Darrell Burkhalter and Andrew Douglas Burkhalter.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Almeta Marie Lindsey Burkhalter of Bryan; sons, Gregory Dean Burkhalter of Bryan, William Kevin Burkhalter and Kelley Moore of North Zulch; daughter, Brandy Burkhalter Norris and her husband, Dennis, of College Station; grandchildren, Crystal Nichole Winkler of Moore, Oklahoma, Ryan Astin Burkhalter, Tyler Dean Burkhalter, both of Washington, Pennsylvania, Hunter Dean Burkhalter of Bryan, Douglas Royder Burkhalter of Tomball, Lindsey Marie Burkhalter of North Zulch, Hailey Brooke Norris of College Station; siblings, Eunice Faye Burkhalter Cornelius of Bryan, Avon Burkhalter Langston of Fort Worth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
