John Luza

John William Luza, Sr., 68, passed away on June 28, 2014, at home surrounded by his family in Cypress TX. Rosary and visitation were held on Friday, July 4, and a Christian burial was held on July 5, 2014, officiated by Deacon Kenneth Stanley, Prince of Peace Catholic Church, at Klein Funeral Home. Interment followed at Klein Memorial Park in Magnolia TX.

 

John was born on September 1, 1945, in Bryan TX to Willie Edward and Cecilia Magdalen Luza. As a child, John attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Bryan, Class of 1963. John worked for an auto parts store for many years and later for a pest control company in the Houston area. He was an avid fan of auto racing and in particular, Dale Earnhardt. He followed the career of his grandson, Flyin’ Ryan Luza, who is a race car driver in the NASCAR Late Model Division. John never met a stranger and was always willing to help those in need. He loved dancing, especially to the music of the Vrazel’s Polka Band.

 

John was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Cecilia Luza, his mother-in-law, Norma Doty, his father-in-law Joe Jankowiak, and his sister, Patricia Luza Nemec.

 

He is survived by his children, John W. Luza, Jr., Douglas R. Luza, and Dawn R. Stepp and husband, Brian, of Cypress TX; his grandchildren, Ryan, Kara, Hayleigh Luza, Brooke and Alyssa Stepp; his brothers, Edward Luza and wife, Joyce, of College Station, Larry and wife, Barbara, and Bill Luza of Bryan; his nephews, Mark Nemec, Larry Jr., Eric, Eddie, B. J., and Jeffrey Luza; his nieces Rachel Jones, Lori Nemec, Kamrey Luza, Jody Luza of Bryan, Jeneane Dyer, and Marti Morales; and the mother of his children, Barbara Jo Luza of Cypress; his uncles, Anton Luza and Jerry Luza of Bryan; his aunts, Tracy Horn of Fort Worth and Betty Matous of Bryan. He leaves behind many cousins and friends.
