I remember  when you had to put money in the parking meters in "Downtown" Bryan.

Do you remember that "suction thing" that took money from downwstairs to the upstairs where they made change and sent it back? It was at W.S.D.'s  When I was little, I thought that was the neatest thing around.

I remember Jarrott's banana splits, Caldwell's Jewelry store with Mr. Fling, Beverly Braley's FIRE SALE, Central Texas Hardware (where we all registered for wedding gifts), the Palace Theatre (where Johnny and I went to see John Wayne on our first date) and the one-armed man who took our tickets and somehow tore them in two and gave us back our ticket stub.........and many more memories.

I remember riding the city bus to "downtown" on the weekend to go to the Queen or the Palace "picture show" and then going to Jarrott's Pharmacy for a coke--all for about 25 cents.  Those days (in the 50's) marked an era when we could have fun  without a parent's supervision and feel safe while enjoying our weekend journey.  How fortunate we were!

Saturday, after lunch, Margaret and Sue and I went downtown.  The Palace marquee  was advertising "Breakfast at Tiffany's"  I am pretty sure  I saw that movie in '64 or '65.  

I also remember feeding the parking meters downtown.  Seems like we used pennies!

I recall watching a parade, standing by Charlotte and Libby.  A while later, we got a new batch of postcards for sale at Colson's Corner.  One of the postcards depicted that same parade, and I recognized the three of us in the foreground.

How could we not mention Colson's Corner???  Your family owned that business for YEARS!!  I had a personal connection in that my ex-husband worked there after class in high school--when he was not tied up with football practice.  Do you still have one of the postcards?
