Ann Seward (Silvear)

ANN LANE SEWARD SILVEAR: November 12, 1945—July 22, 2023

Ann Seward Silvear at the age of 78 passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2023, in Magnolia TX. She was born on November 12, 1945, in Brenham TX to Clay and Iva (Spraberry) Seward. Ann, as a seventh-generation Texan, was proud that a member of her family was present at historic Washington-on-the-Brazos for the signing of the Texas Declaration of Independence. Ann graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School, Bryan, in 1963 and was a member of the National Honor Society.

Ann was a successful realtor in Fayetteville NC in the late 1970s. She later worked for the North Carolina Department of Transportation in Jacksonville NC. After moving back to Texas in the 1990s, she was the popular “Miss Ann” at the Thunder Ranch gun range in Kerrville TX. Immensely talented, Ann sang in the choir, read voraciously, and was an accomplished artist and painter. She sold most of her work, and many of her fabulous oil paintings of beautiful Texas landscapes and wildflowers hang proudly in the homes of family members. Her boundless charm and sharp sense of humor will be remembered and missed by many.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents and her second husband, Thomas A. Silvear, Maj, USMC (Ret), of Carmel CA. Ann is survived by her sister Peggy Telg of Bryan TX and her brother Clay Seward, also of Bryan; her children: Jennifer Spivey Mash and husband Jason of San Diego CA, and Mark Spivey and wife Giselle of Houston TX; Brian Christian, Sgt Maj, USMC (Ret), and wife Arita of Sparks NV, Adrienne Acoba, USAF veteran of Vail AZ, Bethann Silvear Newton and husband David, US Coast Guard veteran, of Emerald Isle NC, and Susan Silvear Jordan of Swansboro NC; six grandchildren: Tyler, Maddie, Graceyn and Mia Spivey of Houston, Ethan Mash of San Diego CA, and Amanda Talken, Missouri National Guard, of Jefferson City MO and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends who will love her and miss her.
